Get ready to relive your childhood because everyone’s favourite web browser game, Neopets, is getting the television treatment.
Announcing the news in a press release, the Neopets company said: “Beach House Pictures, a Blue Ant Studios company, and JumpStart Games, Inc., a NetDragon company, announce today an exclusive deal to develop
the first-ever Neopets animated TV series.”
The show is described as “adding to a wave of new games, content and licensed merchandise launching for the brand.”
“Bringing a new Neopets series to the market has been a passion of mine for many years and seeing it come to life is a dream come true,” said Donovan Chan, Creative Director, Beach House Pictures, a Blue Ant Studios company.
“We’re looking forward to collaborating with the Blue Ant Studios team in Canada and JumpStart Games to create stories and characters for
devoted, long-time fans, while introducing Neopets to a new generation of kids.”
The show is apparently in its very early stages of development, with design and story still being finalised. Hopefully we’ll start hearing more on the news in the coming months.
It’s a great time to be a Neopets fan right now, as the full web browser experience is set to go mobile friendly.
Speaking exclusively to GameByte, Neopets’ Stephanie Lord explained that, despite some tech issues, the mobile-friendly website is still going full steam ahead.
“We have many exciting projects in the Neopian universe right now, one of the most anticipated of course is the mobile version of the site,” Lord told me.
“As everyone is aware, flash is quickly going away so our first goal is to make the existing site completely functional and user friendly on mobile devices. This not only includes converting all flash features to another format, but also redesigning large parts of the site to make it more immersive and modern while improving user experience.”
Excitingly, she announced the team is “set to launch beta in the next couple months.”
Get ready, Neopets fans!
