New Mainline Fire Emblem Game Might Be Announced This Year

According to an industry insider, another Fire Emblem game is in development, and it should be nearly finished.

At the most recent Nintendo Direct, we were given a surprise announcement of a new Fire Emblem Warriors game. And similarly to Hyrule Warriors, Fire Emblem Warrior: Three Hopes seems to be a unique story told with the characters of Three Houses. But fans were expecting either a remake or a brand new non-Warriors game. According to industry insider Emily Rogers, they might just get their wish.

As spotted by VGC, Rogers recently posted to Famiboards about this rumoured new game. “The big wild card is still Intelligent System’s Fire Emblem,” wrote Rogers. “Will it be an October 2022 release or an early 2023 release (February/March)? I’ve mentioned before that this game is nearly finished with its development. IS has had over 3+ years to develop this game, and they received assistance from a support studio.”

Rogers also noted how 2017 saw the release of two Fire Emblem games, Warriors and Echoes. So there is the potential for a second, full Fire Emblem game to be released. However, she also points out that Nintendo might view its Autumn line up as already full. Though she also notes Bayonetta 3, which she expects to release then, might not be strong enough to release on its own for Nintendo.

It’s highly likely a new mainline Fire Emblem game is in development. Three Houses was incredibly successful, and still has a strong fandom. So it’s only a matter of time before we get an announcement for a new game.
