Titled Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield, the two games will release simultaneously in “late 2019.” Check out the video announcement in full below!

Some of the new things we can expect with the launch of the eighth generation of everyone’s favourite pocket monsters include a brand-new region to explore and new critters to collect.

The three starter Pokemon you can choose from are the brand-spanking-new Grookey (chimp), Scorbunny (bunny) and Sobble (water).

Whether you go for Sword or Shield, both game will be set in the new Galar region, which boasts “idylic countryside,” “snow-covered mountains,” “vast plains” and cities.

Sharing a lot of graphical similarities with Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee, it’ll be interesting to see if the Pokeball controller can be used in the new games.

As for an open-world Pokemon game, GameByte had a look into how that might work. Check it out in the video below!
