Nintendo has confirmed the release date of the upcoming reimagining of beloved classic, Pokémon Snap.
Taking to Twitter with the big news, Nintendo revealed that the release date for Pokémon Snap is officially April 30, 2021.
“#NewPokemonSnap when?,” tweeted Nintendo. “Your journey through the photogenic Lental region begins on April 30!”
In case you missed it, the original Pokémon Snap released on the Nintendo 64 back in March of 1991. The game saw you travel on-rails as you attempted to snap photos of Pokémon in their natural habitats.
Though a short adventure, Pokémon Snap is an absolute classic, and New Pokémon Snap is hoped to be just as fun, cute and successful!
The new game’s official description reads as follows: “Seek out and take in-game pictures of Pokémon in their native environments in the New Pokémon™ Snap game, only for the Nintendo Switch™ system! You’ll even discover behaviors and expressions you’ve never seen before when you encounter and research lively wild Pokémon.
“Travel to unknown islands with beautiful scenery like lush jungles and sandy beaches. The Pokémon pictures you take there will be used to build your very own Pokémon Photodex!
“This brand-new game brings the gameplay of the 1999 Pokémon Snap game for the Nintendo 64™ system to life on the Nintendo Switch system with unknown islands to discover and different Pokémon to see!”
With the addition of the Nintendo Switch’s share functions, sharing snaps of your favourite Pokémon will be easier than ever. We can’t wait to get stuck into New Pokémon Snap when it launches on Nintendo Switch, April 30th!
