New Super Mario Strikers Game Might Be Being Teased By Nintendo

Remember Super Mario Strikers? Of course you do! It was Mario meets soccer (or football, if you’re from where I’m from), and it was one of the best underground Mario series’ that Nintendo ever produced.

Interestingly, it looks like Nintendo might be looking to revive the Super Mario Strikers franchise, presumably for the Nintendo Switch, or at least that’s what Reddit‘s hoping.

An Easter egg has been spotted in a recent video showcasing Luigi’s Mansion 3, and it’s gotten eyebrows raised online.

In a Reddit post showing off the image [via ComicBook], a character from Super Mario Strikers can clearly be seen, leading to the question: is this an Easter egg, or a cryptic tease of Nintendo’s future plans.

On the thread, which you can read in full here, the OP commented: “This is something minor and I’m not sure if this was already posted but while I was watching a video about Luigi’s Mansion 3 improvements caughed my attention in one section of threehouse footage that Luigi is walking in a hall with different paintings and the one in the right seems like an image from Mario Strikers

“I’m not saying they are working in a new Mario Strikers or anything but is curious to find acknowledgement of the series in other Mario game.”

The comments seem pretty divided on the matter, as Nintendo fans debate how likely it is that the Super Mario Strikers series might really see the light of day again.

“I agree it looks like Mario strikers,” commented one reader. “but I feel it’s more an Easter egg put in by next level games as they are the dev team for both Mario strikers games and luigis mansion 2 and 3.

“One can dream though, majoras mask was in a link between works before the 3d remake was announced, luigis new poltergust was in a smash trailer before luigi 3 was announced. Nintendo occasionally do tease before announcing.”

What do you think about the Easter egg? Is it just that, or could it be something more?
