Next Call of Duty: Warzone Update Removes Helicopters

Call of Duty: Warzone has been getting a lot of updates, and the next one will see the removal of a massive part of the game: helicopters.

The upcoming change will come as part of the next playlist update, but Infinity Ward is keeping pretty quiet on just why the team has made the decision. Sharing the news across social media, IF confirmed the following playlist updates:

“Playlist Update!
-Replacing Plunder Trios with Blood Money Trios
-Disabled helicopters in BR
-Removing: GW Reinfected, Cranked 3v3 Gunfight, Ground War
-Shoot the Ship becomes Shipment 24/7
-Gun Game becomes Gun Game Reloaded
-Adding Demolition
-Adding Boots on the Ground War.”

Although we don’t know exactly why we’re saying goodbye to helicopters, but we do know they’ve been a bit of a problem for a lot of Warzone players.

As the only vehicle in the game, helicopters allow for fast travel across the Verdansk map, but they did tend to be a little glitchy and problematic at times. Reported bugs include helicopters ending up on the wrong side of the map (and actually underneath the map, at time!)

It’s likely that these bugs are the reason behind the removal, which begs the question: will they be coming back, and should they?

Speaking of bugs, matchmaking times have increased for a lot of players, and it turns out it’s not just in your head but is an actual problem. Thankfully it’s not going to be a problem for too long, according to multiplayer director, Joe Cecot.

As reported by CoD intel site, CharlieIntel, Cecot recently took to Twitter to respond to a fan’s queries over the extended matchmaking times.

Cecot confirmed that the problem has been “identified,” adding that the developers are currently “working on a fix.”

Hooray!
