Night In The Woods Co-Creators Reveal New Game, Revenant Hill

Fans of Night in the Woods were overjoyed last night with the news its co-creators are releasing a new game titled Revenant Hill.

Revenant Hill is the first game for studio The Glory Society as well as the next game for Night in the Woods’s co-creators Bethany Hockenberry and Scott Benson.

Night in the Woods was a single-player adventure video game released back in 2017. Telling a beautiful story about the struggles of adulthood and mental illness, it quickly became a fast favorite for many gamers. Now thanks to an announcement at the PlayStation Showcase 2023, we can look forward to their new game.

Night In The Woods Co-Creators Reveal A New Game, Revenant Hill

Revenant Hill follows the story of Twigs the cat (who bears a striking resemblance to Night in the Wood’s main character, Mae) in a 1919 community. With their landlord Owl asking for rent, Twigs must go out into the world and find a way to make ends meet.

With the ability to grow crops, make friends (and enemies) and even host the occasional party, Twigs must engrain herself in their community in order to live through a world experiencing drastic change. The official synopsis is as follows:

“Grow crops to sell at the secret market or use for your own purposes. Put down roots. Run through the fields and the trees. Watch the seasons pass. Make friends who become neighbours who become family,” the PlayStation blog post reads.

“Also make enemies. That’s unavoidable sometimes. Figure out what the ghosts want. Host increasingly ambitious parties for witches and demons and other things that don’t have proper names. Get tangled up in a world in the midst of violent change. Build a community by accident. Square dance with a possum. Eat mice.”

A New Start For The Developers

As mentioned, Revenant Hill is the first project for developers, The Glory Society. The company was founded by Hockenberry and Benson and also consists of artist and musician Wren Farren.

Additionally, publishers Finji are also known for their work on Tunic, I Was A Teenage Exocolonist and of course, Night in the Woods.

This will be a fresh start for the team after another co-creator of Night in the Woods died in 2019 following accusations of sexual abuse.
