Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is coming soon and we’ve already gotten to hear quite a lot about the next addition to the franchise thanks to the newly-revealed ESRB rating.
Warning: the following article contains minor spoilers for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

As spotted by ComicBook, Black Ops Cold War’s official game rating has been revealed, and it promises a helluva treat if you like your war games with a heap of darkness, gore and grit.
The official website describes “frenetic combat,” including “realistic gunfire, blood-splatter effects, and cried of pain.”

The rating states: “In addition to ranged combat, players have the ability to stab or pistol-whip enemies close-up, or use them as human shields. Some weapons cause characters to explode into bloody chunks of flesh.
“A zombie mode also depicts decapitation and dismemberment, as players use bladed weapons and guns to kill hordes of undead soldiers/creatures.”
There’s also set to be some sexual content too, as “flyers with the words ‘peep show’ and ‘XXX’ can be seen alongside pictures of women in lingerie; a red-light-district storefront is depicted with a neon sign that reads ‘XXX.'”

It’s also been revealed that a particular game mission will have a focus on infiltrating a drug cartel. Expletives in the game will include ‘f**k’ and ‘sh*t.’
Sounds like a big ol’ riot if you ask me!
In case you missed it, Black Ops Cold War will take place in the early 1980s during – you guessed it – the Cold War. The Cold War was a tense time in history when World War 3 was expected to happen at any moment, as two titans refused to play their hands when it came to their nuclear weapons. Nuclear war may not have happened in real life, but who knows what might happen in Call of Duty.

Unlike Black Ops 4, Cold War will have a single player campaign along with its multiplayer. You’ll be chasing down a mysterious character named Perseus, who’s set to change the course of history. The game has been confirmed to be a direct sequel to the very first Call of Duty Black Ops game.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is due to release on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on November 13 2020. Next-gen versions of the game will be announced presumably when the consoles themselves get launch dates.
