Cyberpunk 2077 may have been delayed again, but that hasn’t stopped the team running the game’s social media accounts from having a bit of a laugh with the fans. Over on Twitter, the official Cyberpunk 2077 account recently shared some screenshots of the upcoming CD Projekt Red game, but stuck around for some banter with the players.
One user responded to the tweet asking if one of the buildings shown in the Night City screenshots was in fact EA’s headquarters, albeit in the year 2077.
The official Cyberpunk account took the opportunity to take a jab at EA and its annual FIFA games, responding: “Yes. And if you zoom in closer you can even see concept art from FIFA 78. It’s said to be the best FIFA ever.”
To be fair, I imagine FIFA 78’s graphics are pretty darn good…
The Cyberpunk account may have taken things a step too far with the conversation though, coming under heavy fire for another tweet in the same thread.
One user commented: “FIFA 78 include customizable genitalia.” Cyberpunk responded: “If there is only one type of vagina: PREODER CANCELLED.”
This is, of course, in reference to the backlash the game received when it was revealed that there will be multiple options to customise the penis of your character, but there’ll only be one vagina choice.
This decision was met with controversy as it shows a lack of representation for women, and many were offended by the account’s lighthearted response.
The Cyberpunk account hasn’t removed the tweet, and it doesn’t look like the team plans to. Do you think this tweet is out of line?
Cyberpunk 2077 will release in November on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. If you pick up the game on a current-gen console, you’ll receive a free upgrade to next-gen, along with a free update patch post-release.
