Blizzard has announced that Overwatch 2 Invasion will be their “biggest content drop yet”. Here’s the release date and what you can expect.
It has been a tough few months for Overwatch with the recent news that the long-awaited PvE mode would be slightly different to what was promised. However, Blizzard seems to be pulling out all the stops with an announcement of upcoming story missions.
Overwatch 2: Invasion – What’s New
Overwatch 2: Invasion will feature “new story missions, co-op mode, a new support hero and more.”
It will also introduce an all-new PVP core game mode and “new ways to build on your skills with your favourite heroes.”
Additionally, for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members, you will be able to unlock all Overwatch 2 heroes if you grab the Overwatch 2 New Heroes Starter Pack. This will be available as part of the Game Pass Ultimate Perks when Invasion goes live.
New story mode
The all-new story missions will focus on the battle between humanity and omnics. After the Omnic Crisis, things have been somewhat peaceful but now the Null Sector are back and they want revenge. Your job is to team up with friends and take on the 3 story missions as you go against the dreaded omnics.
New Co-op events
Alongside a new story mode, Invasion will also feature a bonus co-op mission on Kings Row. As you explore areas of the map never seen before, you must work together to save Tracer’s friend and the Omnic Underworld.
Not only that but Flashpoint is a new PvP game mode which will be available in both quick play and competitive. This mode will feature two new maps that will be “Overwatch 2’s biggest PVP maps to date,” according to Xbox.
Overwatch 2: Invasion Release Date
Overwatch 2’s Invasion will arrive on August 10, 2023 to PlayStation 4&5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
