It’s been confirmed that a new Payday game is on the cards, complete with an expected release window.
As revealed over on financial earnings report on Starbreeze’s corporate blog, the company explains that despite some financial difficulties, Payday 3 will releasing in 2022 or 2023.

Over on the blog, Starbreeze writes: “The company estimates that these cash flows will be positive, based on expected new publishing agreements in 2020 and an expected release of Payday 3 in 2022-2023.”
Earlier this year the Swedish publisher and developer Starbreeze Studios offered a frank and honest financial earnings report for Q1 2019, admitting it’s expecting a “liquidity shortfall” unless the company gets a serious cash injection from somewhere.

It now seems as though the situation has been resolved – at least enough for a Payday 3 to be on the cards.
The insanely successful Payday games have been – sadly – MIA for a while now, with the last title, Payday 2, launching back in August 2013.

The games have been met with critical acclaim, so hearing that a new one is on the cards is VERY exciting…even if its confirmation was quite possibly the most unexciting reveal in history.
Ah well, if you’re Payday 3 you don’t need a flashy unveiling…I guess.
Following the cancellation of Overkill’s The Walking Dead it’s been a rocky road for the company, though it looks like the company and its many employees are going to pull through.
The studio recently faced a restructure back in December 2018, but it seems the team’s future is definitely looking a lot more hopeful than it was at the beginning of this summer, when it seemed as though a closure was imminent.
Starbreeze is currently in the process of publishing Psychonauts 2, from Double Fine.
