According to various eBay UK listings, photos of PS5 consoles are selling for thousands of pounds – and it seems that people are genuinely bidding on them.
Yes that’s right, photos – as in, still images – of PS5 consoles are being sold for hundreds of pounds, and in some cases thousands via the auction site.
It’s likely these bids are a result of people panic-buying and not really reading the item description, because some of them quite clearly state that the listing is for a “photo” of a PlayStation 5.
One of the item descriptions even reads: “Photo of Sony PlayStation 5 disc console version. Will print as soon as the auction ends and sent out 1st class.”

While another description also says that the auction is for a: “Photo of PS5 disc edition”
In the same eBay listing, it continues: “Photo to be sent as soon as payment is cleared next day.”
Please note that while we will not link to individual listings, you can check out the bulk of them here.

To be fair at quick glance some of the item listing headings do not mention that it’s a PS5 photo, which is why you should always read the description.
Some of the item listings start from being in the hundreds of GBP rising to the thousands and one has even reached over £20,000. Seriously! I can only assume and hope that the bid of 20k is the action of a bot and not a real person.

Shortage of supply for the PlayStation 5 has been an issue ever since the console was made available to pre-order, let alone following launch.
One of the main issues for the shortage of supply is largely down to resellers who purchase multiple consoles to sell at insane profits and this is proof that some people are willing to pay any amount to get their hands on a PS5 console.
Just this week it was revealed that a company that specialises in reselling sought-after goods had allegedly purchased more than 3500 PS5 consoles, presumably to sell at a profit.
So the big takeaway from this article is that if you’re prepared to pay WAY over the odds for a PlayStation 5 console makes sure that you read the description because you could end up paying thousands for a photo of a PS5.
