Player Uncovers Unpatched Cyberpunk 2077 And Discover Cut Content

A player has uncovered an unpatched version of Cyberpunk 2077, discovering loads of cut content from the game.

YouTuber Tyler McVicker (thanks GamesRadar via TheGamer), decided to revert Cyberpunk 2077 before the game received its first patch. To do so, McVicker deleted all patches and updates from his system. Then booted up the game disconnected from the internet.

By removing all patches and updates, McVicker believes that he was then able to access a build of Cyberpunk 2077 which was created in September 2020, several months before the December release date.

Loads of cut content was discovered, for better or worse

When booting up the now unpatched version of Cyberpunk 2077, McVicker discovered that not only had the User Interface and menus had changed, but so too were several other features. For example, it seems that prior to any patches, Vendors of Night City travelled around the map. Changes were also discovered related to weapon customisation, the perk system, and more.

The version of Cyberpunk 2077 located on every physical copy of the game is from late September of 2020, over two months before the release date,” explained McVicker in the video description.

You can play an unpatched Cyberpunk 2077

Best of all, it seems that by following the same steps as Tyler McVicker, we can also play the unpatched version of Cyberpunk 2077.

Thanks, in part to the insanely rushed final months of development, it’s bursting with cut content that was removed at the last minute in a dash to make the build run on last-gen consoles. The best part? Anyone can play it, right now.

McVicker has also written up a Google Document that goes into more depth detailing the differences between the unpatched Cyberpunk 2077, and what the game is now.

I personally would not recommend trying to unpatch any game, because you never know what errors might occur. That said, has Tyler McVicker’s findings impressed you? Let us know across our social media channels.
