PlayStation is bringing this fan requested feature to the PS5

PlayStation has announced new features are coming to the PlayStation 5, rolling out today as a beta software update for select countries.

PlayStation has announced on their blog that they’re bringing out a fan-requested feature for the PS5, along with a myriad of other additions to their current-gen console.

A system software beta, rolling out for invited participants, is bringing 1440p HDMI video support. The addition of 1440p support gives players additional visual settings to choose from on their compatible TV and PC monitors.

The addition of game lists will also be coming to the PS5. If you’re someone who has trouble navigating through your extensive game library, it’ll soon get a lot easier.  You’ll be able to create game lists and pick a name for them of your choosing. You can have up to 15 game lists and 100 games per list, and they’ll all be found under the “Your Collection” tab of your game library.

PlayStation is also adding a setting to allow you to compare the differences between your 3D and stereo audio.

It’s also going to be easier to continue whatever activity you left off, during your last game session. A ‘Resume activity’ tab will be available from the activity page of your game.

New social features will also be coming to the current-gen console. You’ll be able to request that members of your in-game party share their screens. If you’ve ever wanted to see what’s happening to your friend while playing online multiplayer, you’ll soon be able to.

Joining a friend’s game will get easier too. Instead of having to be in a game to join your friend’s party, you can do this from the PS5 notifications tab itself. When it comes to friends, you’ll also be able to view new friend’s profiles from your accepted requests lists. And be able to send stickers and voice messages in your group chats from your Game Base card.

PlayStation’s new loyalty program will not involve NFTs

This update, with its new features, is limited to invited participants located in the US, Canada,  Japan, the U.K, Germany and France. Though PlayStation plans to roll out the update for the wider PlayStation 5 community later in the year.

The newest editions for PlayStation Plus have been revealed too, making it a great time to own a PlayStation 5.

From August, those who subscribe to the PlayStation Plus Essential tier, and above, will get access to 2 new big titles. Yours to claim next month will be Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 & 2, Yakuza: Like A Dragon and Little Nightmares.

If you want more Yakuza games, a whole load of them are coming to the PS Plus Game Catalogue. PS Plus Premium and Extra members will get access to Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami 1 & 2, the Yakuza Remastered Collection and Yakuza 6: The Song Of Life, later this year.

With the new features and new games coming to PS Plus later this year, there’s never been a better time to have a PS5.
