PlayStation 5 Slim rumoured to release in 2023

New PlayStation 5 slim rumours are making the rounds that suggest that Sony’s sleek console could be released in 2023.

It’s not the first time that rumours of a PS5 slim console have been making the rounds. However, the continued speculation is yet to be confirmed by Sony. That said, Sony has released a slim version of every console generation, so the rumours should come as no surprise.

The PlayStation 5 slim could arrive next year

The latest rumours are courtesy of video game industry insider and journalist, Tom Henderson. He claims that a leak suggests the PS5 slim could release during Q3 2023.

Furthermore, Henderson also reports that Sony plans on releasing 30 million console units in its fiscal year 2023, which was confirmed in a recent earnings call. Additionally, it is said that 18.5 million of the 30 million units will be the new PlayStation 5 slim.

Recent reports back up previous rumours

The recent rumours are also said to be a continuation of the speculation surrounding a new PS5 console releasing with a detachable UHD Blu-ray disc drive. Those rumours were also courtesy of Mr Henderson.

Moreover, the disc drive will also apparently be available as a standalone purchase, should you want to attach it to a new digital edition console. However, Henderson previously reported that the new PS5 console would have no improvements in terms of performance over its predecessor.
