Sony has showcased some new gameplay footage from the upcoming Gran Turismo 7 which launches on March 4th, 2022.
PlayStation’s Gran Turismo 7 State of Play was announced earlier this week, promising new gameplay and other features showcased during a half-hour segment livestreamed across Sony’s official channels. We now have a closer look at some of the features coming to the game when it launches.
A new 3D map screen was shown off, which includes points of interest for anything you’d like to do in the game. From here, you can access races, your garage, messages, and other game modes.
GAME MODES
In addition to a classic campaign mode where you try to earn money and buy more powerful cars, other new modes include the Gran Turismo Cafe where you collect new cars by winning races and beating challenges within the resort.
You can buy cars from the shopping mall for a premium price, or get them at a discount from the used car dealer. However, some used cars may be more expensive than they originally were due to their popularity, meaning their worth is determined by Gran Turismo 7’s community. These prices are updated daily like a stock market of sorts.
There’s also the Museum that offers an encyclopedic history of different car brands, taking you through their history dating all the way back to the early 20th century.
The PlayStation State of Play also showed off some other new game modes. Music Rally has you racing as far as you can to the beat of a music track, with your goal being to get as far as possible before the song ends. Music Replay is also a new form of replay where the camera angles and cuts are automatically tuned to the beat of a rhythm.

PS5 FEATURES
The stream also went into detail on some exclusive PS5 features for Gran Turismo 7. The game on PS5 features high fidelity graphics, including ray tracing that accurately reflects the lighting and reflections that bounce off cars. Considering how shiny those cars look, I bet GT7 will be a great showcase of ray tracing capabilities on PS5.
DualSense support is also a given, with haptic feedback that accurately reflects the surface you’re driving on so you can feel every bump and scrape in the road. 3D audio also allows omnidirectional sound effects from other cars and the world around you as you drive on the fly.
You can check out the entire Gran Turismo 7 State of Play here. The game launches on PS4 and PS5 on March 4th, 2022.
