2019 has been a pretty great year for Pokémon fans thanks to the release of Pokémon Sword and Shield, and it seems the good news is set to keep on coming as a brand new animated series has been announced. Yay!
Entitled Pokémon: Twilight Wings, the new series is set to debut in January 2020, and will focus on the Galar region made famous in the recently-released Nintendo Switch titles, Pokémon Sword and Shield.
Announced on the official Pokémon website, the new animated series will consist of seven brand new episodes which take place completely outside of the anime’s current season.
Excitingly, you’ll be able to catch up on the latest happenings from the Galar region without too much effort, as each five-minute-long episode will be available on Pokémon YouTube channel. Pokémon: Twilight Wings is set to begin on January 15th.
As you can see in the image below, the animation looks absolutely gorgeous.
The official website’s description reads as follows: “Pokémon fans who have been exploring the Galar region will soon be able to experience it in a vibrant new way with the release of Pokémon: Twilight Wings, a seven-episode limited animated series,
“Pokémon: Twilight Wings will show in detail the dreams of Galar’s residents, the realities they face, the challenges they must overcome, and the conflicts they must resolve. In addition to these new stories, fans can expect to see a variety of Pokémon originally discovered in the Galar region appearing throughout the capsule series.”
The series’ animation comes courtesy of Studio Colorido, which is “known for its warm and welcoming visual designs and dynamic photographic techniques, as seen in the anime film Penguin Highway.”
