It appears that eagle-eyed PlayStation fans may have found a teaser for Uncharted 5.
It’s been a sad week for Uncharted fans after Naughty Dog co-president Neil Druckmann revealed they were “moving on” from the franchise. However, thanks to a new ad by PlayStation, players may just have received a ray of hope in the form of a teaser for a new game.
In a new TV spot by PlayStation, the news-like broadcast is dedicated to showing snippets of a number of PS5 exclusives such as Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Gran Turismo 7, God of War Ragnarök, Horizon Forbidden West and more. However, it also appears to show a video game that is not recognisable – leading fans to believe it’s a tease for Uncharted 5.
The snippet appears 43 seconds into the ad as we see a woman walking into a dimly lit cave holding a torch. The mystery woman then appears again, this time blowing sand off an artifact. Although this isn’t a lot to go by, it does appear very Uncharted-esque. Fans of the franchise are speculating that this may be Uncharted 5 and the character may be Cassie, Nathan Drake’s daughter.
Although it may seem far-fetched to be looking forward to a new Uncharted game after Druckmann’s announcement, it is worth remembering the Sony San Diego team. The news dropped in 2020 that a new Uncharted game may come as the result of this collaboration. This would mean that the franchise was handed from Naughty Dog over to a different internal studio, making a continuation in the series a lot more likely. Unfortunately there has been no further information about this.
Furthermore, with Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End reaching over 37 million players worldwide, fans are hoping that the series will continue on into the future.
