The end of the console era is always a time of mixed feelings. The PlayStation 4 is one of the best consoles on the shelves right now, but it’s now officially five and a half years old and Sony is officially looking to the next-generation of console gaming.

We’ve been hearing rumours of the PlayStation 5 for a good few months now. We know for sure that it’s being worked on, and we’ve heard a lot of rumours about potential backwards compatibility (yes please, Sony!) but now it looks like we’ve finally got some potential images of the console – or at least the dev kit and the controller.
Let’s take a look.
Now firstly, dev kits *usually* don’t give too much of an indication about what the actual console might look like, and hopefully the same is true for what’s apparently the PS5 dev kit.
As you can see from the image below (courtesy of Twitter user Tidux) it’s a very old-fashioned looking piece of kit, and not one I’d particularly like to have on display in my house.

The controller, however, now, that looks like it might actually be the next iteration of the DualShock.
In another image, shared on Twitter by SUPERSONIC4K you can see the touchpad is actually a little teeny weeny screen, which is something that we’d previously heard rumours about.

Looks pretty nifty, huh?

Again, this almost definitely won’t be the final design – even for the controller, but it gives game developers an idea of what they can work with when creating their next-gen games.
Also, we’ve no proof that this isn’t anything more than a very well done fake, so get your salt shakers out.
Remember that oval shaped “leaked” Switch (NX) that turned out to be a very well done fake. Just saying.

How do you feel about the ‘leaked’ dev kit?
