PS5 Trophy System Seems To Offer In-Game Rewards To Players

A new PS5 leak suggests players could earn rewards for earning trophies on PlayStation 5, and it seems that rewards will not only be given for earning Platinum Trophies, but also Bronze, Silver and Gold.

The rumours come from a known PlayStation leaker by the name of Tidux. The Twitter user shared some images for the upcoming PlayStation 5 title, Destruction AllStars, seemingly showing new details about PS5 trophies.

The leaks in question show images of two Trophies that you can earn in Destruction AllStars, one being Bronze and the other being Gold.

The Bronze “Rookie” Trophy is seemingly given by earning “All of the Star Objectives” and if you earn this particular Trophy, you will be gifted with a Profile Banner to be used on your PlayStation 5 profile.

The second Trophy in question is the Gold Trophy called “Wreckognised,” and this is reportedly earned by achieving an “S” rank in the game.  This Gold Trophy will then gift you with an Avatar for your PlayStation 5 Profile picture.

Now, I must point out that earning rewards on the PlayStation consoles is nothing new, because you can earn exclusive trophies for achieving the Platinum Trophy (and some for 100% completion) for a number of PS4 titles, including Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War, Marvel’s Spider-Man, Days Gone, Bloodborne, Call of Duty: WWII, PaRappa the Rapper and The Last Guardian.  Each either offers a theme, avatar or even both in some cases.

While it’s nice to earn items such as snazzy themes to customise your PlayStation dashboard and profile, I hope that Sony takes inspiration from Microsoft Rewards on Xbox. This is a reward system that earns you points for completing weekly quests, playing certain games through Xbox Game Pass, earning a certain number of Achievements and so forth.

These rewards can be exchanged for Xbox Live and Game Pass subscriptions, sweepstake competitions and more. You have to join Xbox Rewards to take advantage of the offers, but it’s free and you’re being rewarded for playing games, so it’s a win-win in my book.

What are your hopes for the PlayStation 5 rewards system?  Would you like to see something similar to that of Microsoft Rewards or perhaps you’re not interested at all?
