Quake Has Been Given a 25th Birthday Makeover And Its Out Now

Remastered by Night Dive Studios, the new enhanced version of Quake is available on PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch. Announced during QuakeCon 2021, the new version of the shooter features a visual overhaul, online and split-screen multiplayer and four expansions, two of which have been crafted by Wolfenstein: The New Order developer Machine Games.

Now, it’s worth mentioning that while the new version of Quake runs at 4K 120 FPS on supported platforms, the update for Xbox and PlayStation is apparently coming “soon”.

Of course, Switch players will have to make do with the console’s native resolution. Although, if you tend to play on the go, that probably won’t matter as much. Enhanced Quake also benefits from features such as enhanced models, dynamic lighting, anti-aliasing and depth of field, so even if you’re a Quake veteran, this experience will probably feel pretty fresh.
