Although most of the world was sold on the idea of a new addition to the Batman Arkham games from Rocksteady, it seems as though we’re more than likely getting a reboot. The rumour has been spread by multiple sources with insider knowledge, with it being heavily suggested that an official reveal had been planned for the now-cancelled E3 2020.
However, it seems as though we probably won’t have to wait too long for an update, as the game’s release could be happening within the next couple of months.
As reported by TGWW, a publication known for its Arkham insider knowledge, the Batman reboot is expected to land in Fall 2020. This would make sense as the next generation of consoles, the Xbox Series X and the PlayStation 5, are to be released during Holiday 2020, and it’s likely the next Batman will be current-gen.
In related news, a new rumour has surfaced regarding Rocksteady Games and the development team’s plans for the future of its DC games. According to James Sigfield of TGWW, Rocksteady had plans to expand on its Arkham games by throwing a Superman title into the legacy.
Sigfield tweeted: “Hearing from multiple sources that Rocksteady pitched a Superman game to WB as a follow up to Arkham Knight, and WB passed on the project…
“The various Easter eggs in Arkham Knight referencing Superman and Metropolis were meant to be hints towards the story and characters.”
If WB passed on Superman and decided on a Batman reboot instead of a new sequel, I’m definitely more than keen to see what’s been cooked up by Rocksteady. Hopefully we won’t have too long to wait to find out just what the heck is happening with Bruce Wayne.
