Red Dead Redemption 2 fans plead to Rockstar for a PS5 patch

Red Dead Redemption 2 fans are pleading with Rockstar Games to release a PS5 patch for the popular wild-west game.

Red Dead Redemption fans haven’t had a great time of late.

Despite being one of the most critically acclaimed games of the modern era, Rockstar has abandoned the game with no further meaningful content. Whether it’s for the single-player campaign or Red Dead Online.

Show Red Dead Redemption 2 some love!

Furthermore, Rockstar Games has shown continued bias in favour of GTA Online with regular updates and plenty of expansion-like content.

Granted, GTA Online is by far the most popular game, especially in terms of being a money-maker.

However, seemingly from launch, Rockstar never appeared to have the same kind of devotion towards RDR2 and as a result, the western adventure never really had much of a fighting chance against GTA 5.

Back in September 2022, Rockstar Games announced that it was moving on from Red Dead Redemption 2.

Consequently, this also put an end to the rumoured remasters/remakes of the original RDR as well as its sequel.

That being said, despite Rockstar washing its hands with RDR2, that hasn’t stopped fans from hoping that their beloved western will at least get one last show of love from the developer.

We’d love to play Red Dead Redemption 2 at 4K/60fps!

As reported by Push Square, the official subreddit for Red Dead Redemption 2 has been trending.

At the time of writing the “Tomorrow marks 4 years of RDR2. Still no PS5 60fps patch” has nearly 8,000 upvotes.

The Reddit posts highlight the fact that since Red Dead Redemption 2 was released four years ago, Rockstar Games has allegedly seen a 380% increase in share prices, and parent company Take-Two is now worth over $20 billion with over 2,500 employees.

However, according to Macrotrends.net, that value is closer to $14 billion.

why is this information relevant?

The issue that RDR2 fans have with Rockstar is that the game runs at a native 4K output (3840x2160p) at 30fps on Xbox Series X.

Yet when played on PS5, while RDR2 is also locked at 30fps, it has an inferior resolution of 1920x2160p. Which just so happens to be the exact same as the PS4 Pro.

It’s unlikely that Rockstar Games will respond to its fan’s pleas, after all, it is focused on the development of Grand Theft Auto 6 as well as GTA Online.

However, releasing a native 4K patch at 60fps for all new-gen consoles would go a long way in pleasing fans of a game they feel has been abandoned.

Come on Rockstar Games, give RDR2 one final showing of love that it deserves. Red Dead Redemption 2 is out now for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
