Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the greatest games of this generation and DLC for the title would be VERY much appreciated by its millions of fans. Whether or not we’ll be getting any extra content remains to be seen, but new info has gotten us pretty hopeful.
One player of the iconic wild west title recently decided to do a little digging within the game files, and they uncovered something very exciting about the game’s Mexico area.
For those who’ve played the game, you may remember Mexico popping up in the story, but unlike the story’s Caribbean island, it wasn’t available to visit.
According to GTA Forums user, VideoTech UK, there might be more to Mexico than we first thought, though what that actually means is unclear. After searching through the game files on PlayStation 4’s version 1.0, the user discovered a range of hidden 3D models of towns and landscapes in Mexico, suggesting a bigger role for the area might be on the cards.
Though this might not seem too exciting, it begs the question: why are they there? They could be unused and scrapped ideas from when Rockstar was first working on the game sure, but they could also form the initial base for a potential DLC.
Even more references to Mexico and its playable content have also been discovered within the game’s minimap data, with the code even including multiple bounties and NPCs for the region [via ComicBook].
Sadly, Rockstar hasn’t so much as even teased the idea of DLC, so we’re probably looking at unused game assets rather than anything new.
Rumours of an RDR2 DLC have been floating around for a while now, but with next-gen consoles right on the horizon and with a pretty darn perfect story for RDR2 as it stands, it might be time to put our DLC dreams to bed.
Still, never stop dreaming, folks!
