According to recent reports, the development of BioWare’s Dragon Age 4 is on schedule and it is currently set to release in 2023.
The reports are courtesy of VentureBeat’s Jeff Grubb, sources said to be familiar with BioWare claim that a release is around two years away.
Many hoped that Dragon Age would be at this week’s EA Play Live. However, BioWare did clarify earlier in the month that the RPG would not be in attendance.
“We’re hard at work creating the next [Dragon Age] and [Mass Effect] games and have some exciting stuff coming to Star Wars: The Old Republic,” reads a Twitter post.
VentureBeat reached out for a comment on the rumours
When VentureBeat reached out to EA for a comment on the rumours, a spokesperson said: “the company hasn’t announced the date and has no plans to share it yet.”
However, back in October 2019 as reported by VGC, Electronic Arts CFO, Blake Jorgensen said: “You should assume that Dragon Age—it’s out there, we’ve talked about it publicly that it’s in the works—it probably comes after fiscal 22,”. If true, this would back up the recent claims.
Jeff Grubb is a reliable industry insider, though we must still take unconfirmed rumours with a pinch of salt. However, it does seem likely that Dragon Age 4 could be released in 2023.
