Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami has said in a recent interview that if a Resident Evil 4 remake were to happen, he would hope Capcom makes improvements to the story.
Back in the day, Resident Evil 4 marked a massive departure for the franchise. The first three games all used fixed camera angles, and were more about puzzles than anything else. But the fourth entry moved the series in a more action oriented direction, complete with Leon Kennedy performing the sickest of flips.
There were some cheesy moments too though, like in the original games (cue Jill sandwich reference). And now, in an interview with VG247, Mikami explained that he hopes if Capcom remakes the game, that it would improve the story.

how does mikami feel?
When asked about the rumours surrounding the potential remake, Mikami said that “fans will most likely want it, and so that’s a good thing.” But it seems he isn’t a fan of how the story turned out. “It would be great if Capcom could do a great job and make the story better, and put out a good product,” Mikami said of the rumoured remake.
It’s important to note that Mikami wasn’t just the director of the original game, but wrote it too. Though as he notes in the interview, he “only had three weeks to write it in.” Three weeks isn’t exactly a lot of time. So it’s understandable if Mikami wasn’t happy with the final result.
Mikami later went on to make two The Evil Within games. And just recently, we finally got an extended look at his upcoming Ghostwire Tokyo. Combat is looking very Doctor Strange like, with incredibly flashy looking hand movements and unique ways of fighting off enemies.
And if you can’t wait for a remake of Resident Evil 4, then this incredible looking HD mod should tide you over.
