The past few months have been a mish-mash of rumors and speculation relating to the new Resident Evil title. Original claims thought the new addition would just be an addition to the Biohazard series, but now it seems there is a definitive answer as to what the new Resident Evil game will contain.
The new title for the game will be ‘Village.’ This will appear as a subtitle, so the full title for the game will be ‘Resident Evil VIII Village.” The subtitle kind of gives away the atmosphere you are likely to expect. A lot of the game will focus on cult-like surroundings and the rituals that are associated with the like. Expect witches, sorcery and all sorts of grotesque creatures to be involved in this title – the norm for Resident Evil basically.
Chris is set to play a central role and has had a redesign as well. Chris’s divisive appearance in the DLC of Resident Evil 7 kind of set the mold for how reoccurring models will feature in the series now. Chris is set to play a very decisive role in the 8th installment to the franchise. He appears in flashbacks surrounding Ethan, Mia, and appears to be their baby. He is not being portrayed as the heroic type though, more one who is being plagued with the troubles of past actions. One of his flashbacks seemingly shows him shooting someone in his home.
The Witch is a new enemy to appear in the game series and is apparently a stalker enemy. The nature and origin point of these enemies remains unknown for now but the enemy operates in a similar manner to Marguerite, where she operates using insects. When you defeat the Witch, she even dissolves into insects and will continue to haunt the player with her very definitive laugh.
The UI style of inventory management is also being worked around with as well. Capcom is toying with either using the style that was present in Resident Evil 7 or going back to old school and using the style more favored in Resident Evil 4.
Hallucinations are more than likely going to feature in the game as well, with the aim to fog the player’s mind and confuse them with what would be considered real or an illusion to them.
The new details are beginning to mount up and it certainly seems like the game is coming together fully. The leaks so far show the game is shaping up to be something special.
