According to recent rumours Resident Evil Revelations 3 is set to be announced later this year. If this sounds familiar, you’re not wrong.
Back in November 2020 as a result of a big Capcom breach, Resident Evil-related details and assets were leaked, including the codename “Outbreak 3.”
At the time, leaker AestheticGamer stated that the game known as “Outbreak 3” was actually Resident Evil Revelations 3. Many (including I) hoped that this would be the return of the multiplayer Outbreak series which released on PS2.
However AestheticGamer has now elaborated further on the Revelations 3 rumours, claiming that the game will release “within a year” of RE Village. The user, who has been correct with RE leaks in the past, has said an announcement can be expected later this year.
AestheticGamer was responding to a follower on Twitter who asked about the Revelations games’ cliffhanger ending.
In a two-part tweet, Aesthetic Gamer responded by saying: “This is not from me, but for the record, Revelations 3 is coming out within a year of Village’s release date, either late 2020 or early 2021.
“It probably won’t be called Rev 3, the name we know it as is ‘Resident Evil Outrage’, but it was Rev 3 at one point in dev at the very least.”
AestheticGamer concluded: “Releases as part of their 25th anniversary celebrations, along with Village, almost definitely going to be a Switch timed exclusive. But that’ll be announced later this year, for now Village deserves the attention, and out in just a few months now!”
Being a big Resident Evil fan, I’ve also heard similar unconfirmed rumours. One of which claimed one that claimed that RE Village was originally supposed to be Revelations 3, but that’s just hearsay. As always, take rumours and leaks with a pinch of salt.
With 2021 being the 25th anniversary of the Resident Evil series, I’m sure we’ll have plenty of Resi goodness and announcements throughout the year.
Resident Evil Village will release for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S on May 7th.
