The release date for Resident Evil Village, the eighth mainline game in the beloved horror series, has finally been revealed.
Resident Evil Village will be released on May 7, 2021. The game will be available on both PS4 and PS5, with the PS4 version coming with a free new-gen update.
PlayStation 5 gamers will get access to a demo from today. We’ll be playing as a character referred to as “the maiden.” The demo won’t feature combat or blocking. A separate new demo will be coming to all platforms later this Spring.
In case you missed it, Resident Evil Village stars the seventh game’s protagonist, Ethan Winters. The title will feature a number of key aspects which should hopefully impress longstanding fans of the franchise. The Merchant will be returning, this time as The Duke.
Inventory management will also be a big part of the game, which hopefully means Capcom is taking the survival horror element seriously.

Expect puzzles, jumpscares, and “plenty of surprises,” teases the latest gameplay video.
The game’s official description reads as follows: “Experience survival horror like never before in the 8th major installment in the Resident Evil franchise – Resident Evil Village. With detailed graphics, intense first-person action and masterful storytelling, the terror has never felt more realistic.”
Featuring witches, werewolves and a whole lot of creepy, Resident Evil 8 is (hopefully) going to be just as terrifying as Resident Evil 7 was!
