Rockstar’s Next Game Could ‘Be New IP, Set In Medieval European’

As always, take the rumour with a pinch of salt.

Now that Red Dead Redemption 2 has made the leap from console to PC, everyone wants to know what Rockstar Games’ next plan is. We’ve heard rumours of Bully 2, Grand Theft Auto 6 and now it’s being suggested that Rockstar’s next game will be an entirely new IP, set in medieval Europe.

The rumour stems – once again – from Linkedin, where a Rockstar employee said they’d been working on “Project Medieval.” The post, from character artist Pawas Saxena, has since been edited to remove the comment.

Interestingly, Project Medieval believed to be a previously canned project from Rockstar: could it be that this is back in development?

The original Linkedin post [via Reddit] reportedly stated that Saxena was previously “creating modular environment pieces with organic finish carefully following medieval architectural style.”

Another Reddit rumour also goes on to suggest that there really is a medieval game in the works, and that it’ll have a big focus on sword fighting and duelling. There’s no evidence that this OP would have any insider knowledge on the project though, so don’t take it as gospel.

Unfortunately, until we get any official word from Rockstar, these are all just rumours for now. Personally, I find it hard to believe that GTA 6 would have been shelved, especially as the next generation of console gaming is just a year away.

GTA 5 is one of the most lucrative games of all time, and with such a cash cow under its belt, would Rockstar really skip out on bringing GTA 6 to Xbox Scarlett and PlayStation 5?
