Rumour: Call Of Duty 2020 Isn’t Black Ops Reboot

We’ve been hearing rumours about the upcoming 2020 Call of Duty game since way back in August last year. At the time, it was claimed that CoD 2020 would be none other than Black Ops 5, and would focus on the Cold War. However, a new leak suggests that might not be the case.

The rumour comes from known CoD leaker, TheGamingRevolution, who’s been pretty reliable with Activision leaks in the past (that being said, take everything with a pinch of salt, as always).

According to TheGamingRevolution‘s most recent video (which you can check out below), 2020’s CoD won’t bear the Black Ops title at all, either as 5 or a reboot, though it could possibly tie into the BO lore somehow.

Despite allegedly dropping the Black Ops name, the game is rumoured to still be set in Cold War era, with a focus on the Vietnam War.

In the same video, YouTuber dkdynamite said that Sledgehammer Games had plans for a Vietnam-based game since the 2010s, but the project was shelved with plans to return to it at a later date.

The 2020 edition of CoD has since been handed over to developer Treyarch, but that doesn’t necessarily mean the outlined plans have gone to waste.  It’s definitely an interesting move as it means that after Black Ops 4, Treyarch will have just two years of development time instead of the usual three.

Whether or not there’s any truth to the rumours remains to be seen, but hopefully we’ll start to hear more info dropping sooner rather than later. Seeing as this will be the last CoD of the current generation of console gaming, it needs to go out with a bang!
