In a recent Inside Maxis livestream, it was announced that a new ‘Scenarios’ mode is being added to The Sims 4.
If you’re familiar with The Sims community, you’ll know that there are numerous challenges you can self impose. The most well known is the 100 Baby Challenge, where your Sim needs to have 100 babies with 100 different people. It’s more complicated than that, but it’s a classic Sims community challenge.
Scenarios will function in a similar way, but now in an official capacity. One scenario being added, Making Money, sees your Sim completely broke and needing to earn one million Simoleons. Another, Finding Love after a Break Up, will have you needing to repair your Sims’ broken relationship, or finding love elsewhere.
Some scenarios will only be available for a limited time, such as Too Many Toddlers which is running until November 17. Scenarios may also be tweaked over time.
Community challenges have long been a part of The Sims community. There’s only so many times you can build a house, so difficult challenges add a new layer of gameplay. It’s surprising it took so long for Scenarios to be added to The Sims 4. We’ll have to wait and see if they prove successful or not, or if the Sims community will continue to create its own challenges.
Also recently announced was the Blooming Rooms Kit. This kit includes a number of new plants, and will be coming November 9.
