Secret and mysterious messages have been discovered in the recent Silent Hill: Townfall announcement trailer.
Recently Konami hosted the Silent Hill “Transmission” presentation which not only revealed the heavily rumoured Silent Hill 2 remake, but also three other games as well as a new Silent Hill movie.
The trailer was full of secrets!
One such game was a newly announced spin-off, Silent Hill: Townfall. This spin-off title is being developed by No Code and co-published by Konami and Annapurna Interactive.
During its reveal trailer of Townfall, Creative Director, Jon McKellen said that he: “respects the source material, but also does something a little bit different with it”.
Voices were heard in the Townfall trailer
Furthermore, we also heard a static voice say: ““Why are you here?” and “Here to be punished… That’s good. I like it. I think we’ve done something so awful that we are stuck here in this place being judged by these… people”.
McKellen also teased that there may have been some hidden messages within the announcement trailer. Well, some clever gamers on Reddit have deciphered those mysterious secrets.
What Silent Hill Secret messages were discovered?
By converting an MP3 file, Reddit user MilkManEX discovered the message: “Whatever heart this town had has now stopped.”
However, perhaps more interestingly, there was also an SOS message that referenced Alessa from the original Silent Hill game on PS1. Alessa also appeared in Silent Hill: Origins.
In case you didn’t know, Alessa is the daughter of Dahlia Gillespie, a leading member of a cult known as the “Order”. It was believed that Alessa harnessed the power of the Order’s version of God and she also gave the town of Silent Hill its dark power.
Despite the excitement of the Silent Hill 2 remake, many fans were disappointed that the original Silent Hill was skipped. We know that Shattered Memories which was released on PS2, PSP as well as the Wii was a remake of sorts. However, not a great deal of Silent Hill fans had the opportunity to play that particular game.
This couldn’t be another Silent Hill remake, could it?
During the recent Transmission presentation, Konami stated that the new Silent Hill games, including the SH2 remake, were the catalyst of the new movie called Return to Silent Hill. Furthermore, Return to Silent Hill, directed by Christophe Gans is inspired by SH2.
This catalyst seems to be a leading motivation for the SH2 remake is likely a reason that a modern remake of first Silent Hill was skipped. After all, the first Silent Hill movie from 2006, also directed by Christophe Gans, is inspired by the original game.
What are your thoughts on the secret messages in the Silent Hill trailer?
Now, as much as I would hope it to be, I doubt Silent Hill: Townfall is a remake of the original game. That being said, the fact that it appears to be at least inspired by it in some ways, is very intriguing indeed.
