Shroud Says Battle Royales Are Too Randomised To Be Competitive

The battle royale market might be heavily, heavily oversaturated right now, but the number of battle royale games out there isn’t what’s bothering top streamer Shroud – it’s their content.

The Twitch streamer and professional gamer known as Shroud recently voiced his opinions to his many viewers, sharing that he thinks battle royale games are too randomised to be competitively fair.

Speaking specifically of Epic Games’ Fortnite, Shroud said [via Dexerto]: “There needs to be something there [in the mid-game]… so that there isn’t 40 people at the very end. Because then it’s not a matter of skill, it’s who the f**k gets the luckiest to win the game and it shouldn’t be that…

“To determine a win for the whole match with luck? No, no.”

He also said the mid-game makes the whole experience “less interesting,” as “everyone is hiding.”

Shroud believes that this then makes the late game a “clusterf*ck.”

The top-tier streamer doesn’t shy away from voicing his opinions when it comes to the flaws in battle royale games.

Earlier this year, Shroud sounded off on Respawn Entertainment’s Apex Legends, blaming his loss during a match on the game’s lag.

“We literally lost to these guys because of f*cking lag!” said Shroud at the time. “I’m gonna break something! Holy sh*t, I hate when stuff isn’t in my control.”

He then quit the game, telling his viewers: “I left the game. I can’t play until it’s fixed. This is PUBG all over again, dude.”

To be fair, he’s definitely not the only person who’s had lag issues with Apex Legends!

However, it seems like Fortnite isn’t floating Shroud’s boat anymore either…Maybe he needs to get busy making his own battle royale game!

Do you think Shroud’s right about Fortnite being too reliant on luck?
