Sons of the Forest releases into Early Access this month

Sons of the Forest was first announced back in 2019 and with one delay already under their belts, Endnight Games do not want to waste anymore time.

Sons of the Forest is an upcoming survival horror game which is set for release on February 23. However, its original release date was scheduled for October 2022. After many difficult years for game developers, mainly because of the COVID-19 pandemic, delays are to be expected. However, Endnight Games have decided to release their game in early-access. This will allow the community to get involved and for the developers to continue making tweaks.

A statement from Endnight

Via a statement posted on Steam, Endnight say, “It’s been a long journey since we first started ‘Sons of The Forest’ development and it’s grown into the biggest most complex game we have ever made. There is still so much more we want to add; items, new mechanics, gameplay balance and more. We didn’t want to delay again so have instead decided to involve the community in the continued development of this project and keep our February 23rd release date but instead release in Early Access.”

“‘The Forest’ turned out to be a massive success, due mostly to the awesome community and the suggestions, feedback, and bug reports the players shared with us,” the statement continues. “We are really excited and hope that players want to come on this new journey with us to make this the ultimate survival horror simulator.”

A summary

With the game originally announced during the 2019 Game Awards, the team couldn’t know a pandemic was about to hit. However, it seems like their idea to avoid a further delay may be beneficial to both them and players. We will see when the game is released in early access at the end of the month.
