Capcom’s Resident Evil 2 remake is one of the most impressive horror games we’ve played in a while, and less than a month after its release it’s getting its first DLC – and it’s completely free!
The Ghost Survivors is just a few hours away from release, and Sony has spilled the beans on everything we can expect from the update.
On the PlayStation blog Sony writes: “This set of stories provides ‘what if’ scenarios for characters you encounter throughout the main game, providing an alternate look at what things might have been like if they survived the horrors of Raccoon City.”
The blog goes on to explain The Ghost Survivors is similar in style to The 4th Mode or Tofu Mode – “escape from Raccoon City by any means necessary – but this time, you’ll be playing as three characters that never survived that fateful night.”
There’s three stories to play through: No Time to Mourn (featuring Robert Kendo of Gun Shop Kendo), Runaway (with the mayor’s daughter, Katherine) and Forgotten Solider, a U.S.S agent covered in armor.
Sony explains: “Those who have played the game may already know how [Robert Kendo’s] sad tale ends, but in The Ghost Survivors, he’s given a second chance when an old friend with a helicopter radios in to pick him up. Packing up what weapons he can, Kendo sets out into the streets to seek a way out from the infected city. On his way, a new type of poisonous zombie stands between him and freedom.”
As for the mayor’s daughter, she’s “seeking to escape Raccoon City with a certain someone, [and] must navigate the streets while avoiding a strangely mutated type of zombie that can only be stopped with particularly powerful ammunition. Play carefully, and you might survive.”
Finally, the mysterious protagonist of Forgotten Solider is described as an “especially challenging scenario will put even The 4th Survivor veterans to the test.”
There’s also your Claire and Leon 1998 polygon skins, which you can download for free alongside The Ghost Survivors. As for the purple zombies we’re seeing…I guess we’ll have to wait and see!
