Speedrunner Beats Super Mario Bros. Record, Blindfolded!

A talented speedrunner has beaten the world record for finishing the final level of Super Mario Bros., blindfolded! Colour me impressed.

As reported by TheGamer, the blindfold record is now held by speedrunner Sir Axl Rose who uploaded his speedrun on his YouTube channel, before sharing the clip on Reddit.

The record was broken while playing an emulated version of Super Mario Bros. from the NES on level 8-4. The level was beaten at 1:01.

Not only has Sir Axl Rose memorised the level and button prompts, but also audio cues to navigate through the short level. I’m unlikely to beat any Super Mario Bros. level without losing at least one life, so I’m very impressed by this speedrunners achievement.

At the time of writing, the impressive speedrun clip has less than 200 views, but hopefully, those views will increase in the coming days/weeks.

Speedrun records are impressive as always

Breaking speedrun records are as popular as always, especially when it involves Nintendo IPs. In related news, back in early August, a speedrunner completed FromSoftware’s Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice from start to finish, blindfolded.

Are you impressed with the speedrunning skills of Sir Axl Rose and have you been impressed with any other speedrun records of late? If so, let us know across our social media channels.
