Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has been out for less than a month but there’s still a load of mods you can install to “improve” on certain aspects of the game. This could be the lighting, the textures or – for some people – changing the colour of protagonist Cal Kestis’ hair.
Yes, mods that turn red-headed Kestis into a non-ginger are now pretty popular on mods site NexusMods, and Cal Kestis’ actor Cameron Monaghan has been pretty vocal on the matter.
Monaghan, who lends his likeness to Kestis and shares his red hair, took to Twitter to respond to Fallen Order players who aren’t happy with the ginger lead [via ComicBook].
In since-deleted tweets, the Gotham and Shameless star told his followers: “Gotta love that there are insecure dudes out there who can’t handle playing as a redhead,
“Seriously, ginger hate is still a thing? We’ve gotta be one of the only groups left where it’s not taboo to sh*t on us for being born or looking a certain way, right?”
He then followed up referencing that South Park episode we all remember as being somewhat terrifying, writing: “I mean that South Park episode was like 15 years ago. The joke is pretty dated. And even at the time, the whole joke was about how arbitrarily deeming a group of people as ‘other’ is stupid and ridiculous.
“Not that I care. I’m the lead in a freaking Star Wars game and having a great career and great time! But I do genuinely find the weird superiority complex of these insecure men making comments about my appearance kinda… amusing? Like, are they mad because their girlfriends have a crush on me or something? Just kidding, we know they don’t have girlfriends.”
Personally, I don’t think we see enough red headed characters in gaming.
