With the fourth season of Netflix’s Stranger Things on the horizon, new information is trickling out, and it looks like we could be getting a release date announcement soon.
For now though, the Duffer Brothers have revealed more information about the upcoming set of episodes.
The show is set to reveal the origin off The Upside Down, the show runners have revealed.
The creative team sent out a statement to various media outlets revealing what to expect in the next series, and it contained some seriously intriguing tidbits.
Indiewire released the statement in full, which you can read below:
“We’re excited to officially confirm that production on ‘Stranger Things 4’ is now underway — and even more excited to announce the return of Hopper!” the Duffer brothers explained.
“Although it’s not all good news for our ‘American;’ he is imprisoned far from home in the snowy wasteland of Kamchatka, where he will face dangers both human…and other. Meanwhile, back in the states, a new horror is beginning to surface, something long buried, something that connects everything. Season 4 is shaping up to be the biggest and most frightening season yet, and we cannot wait for everyone to see more. In the meantime, pray for the American.”
We recently covered how certain fans believe that the Stranger Things team are hiding the fact that the man we see in the trailer is not actually Jim Hopper.
Several comments started floating around say that this isn’t Jim. Redditor u/chickenmcfried said, “Maybe it isn’t Hopper… but a Russian doppelganger”, which led to the hilarious coining of the phrase Hoppelganger.
It definitely seems like a bit of a marketing misstep to ruin your season cliffhanger and reveal one of your main characters is alive and well. Game of Thrones made us wait a full two years to find out Jon Snow didn’t lose his life at the hands of his mutinous Night’s Watch comrades.
There’s only one thing we know for sure, as the marketing keeps telling us: we’re not in Hawkins anymore.
