Super Mario Odyssey finally gets 10-player multiplayer support, however, there is a catch that not everyone will like.
The creator of this mod is CraftyBoss and it will require players to have a digital copy of Super Mario Odyssey to use this unofficial expansion. However, there’s more. Players will also be required to have a modded Nintendo Switch console. Which should come as little surprise.
“Have fun exploring kingdoms with friends, playing game modes, or beating the game as fast as possible! This mod is still early in development, so expect bugs and unrefined aspects as we work hard to improve it and make the mod as polished as possible,” reads the mod description.
Mario’s are everywhere!
If you’re not too fussed about modding your Switch console (which voids your warranty), you can play with up to nine other players. Furthermore, because Super Mario Odyssey features Mario customisation, expect a variety of Super Mario’s jumping onto mushrooms.
Players will be able to explore the entire game together while syncing their progress after collecting a Moon. However, that is not all, because this unofficial mod also includes “support for custom game modes” which is currently still a “work in progress.”
What custom modes can we play?
At this time, the expansion features a Hide and Seek mode. Though we can expect more modes to be added at a later date.
In Hide and Seek, players will select a seeker at the beginning of a round, while the others run away to hide. The winner is determined by the player that has the fastest accumulated time discovering hidden players.
It’s a shame that Nintendo couldn’t make its own version of this expansion, because it looks like a lot of fun.
