After weeks of rumours, Nintendo has finally revealed that Super Mario RPG is getting a remake for Nintendo Switch. Here’s everything we know so far.
During today’s Nintendo Direct, Nintendo announced the remake of the popular 1996 Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. This news came alongside a brand-new trailer showing how the 2023 version of the classic looks. Spoiler alert – it looks amazing.
Super Mario RPG Remake Has Been Announced
Despite improved graphics, gameplay looks very reminiscent of the original. With primarily turn-based combat, we join Mario alongside his colourful cast of friends.
For those who never played the 1996 version, the game is a precursor to the Paper Mario and the Mario & Luigi series. As well as turn-based combat, it also features core mechanics from the Super Mario series so younger fans will still love this addition.
The trailer also features the music we all know and love from the original. However, they also seem to have had a modern makeover which you can hear in the trailer above.
Of course, a Mario game would not be complete with the Italian plumber’s famous friends. In this remake, we will get to see classic characters such as Mallow and Geno as well as Birdo and Booster.
