Nintendo Switch Sports Players Are Still Smashing TVs

Nintendo Switch Sports might be a new take on a fan favourite series, but when it comes to smashing TVs, some things never change.

Time is cyclical. We make the same mistakes over and over again, without learning from them. You would think that evolution would have taught us to strive to move forward. But no. It seems that no matter what, humanity is destined to note tie up the straps on the controller so you don’t smash your TV while playing Nintendo Switch Sports.

That’s right, the year is 2006 and you’re watching the news and there’s reports of people throwing their Wiimotes into the TV while playing Wii Sports Bowling. Except it’s 2022, and now people are playing Nintendo Switch Sports Bowling, and they’re smashing their Joy Cons into their most likely flatter TVs.

YouTube video

The above video is a good example of what not to do while playing Nintendo Switch Sports (thanks, Kotaku). It’s incredibly painful. The streamer in question, 63man, is quite clearly not wearing the straps. The moment in question comes five seconds in, leading to the most deafening silence imaginable. 63man’s character stops dead in their tracks. After a few moments of disbelief, 63man reveals the TV screen and yep, it sure is broken.

It wouldn’t be surprising if this isn’t the dawn of a new era of accident montages. At least it isn’t as embarrassing as the time when a man trying to sell a Wii and accessories broke a TV, in a single moment removing any amount of confidence anyone had in the products. At least Nintendo Switch Lite players technically don’t have to worry.
