An update video was released by Techland, where the developers would give us a little insight into how the progress of the game is going.

Earlier in the week when we were all informed that Techland would be providing an update of sorts, we were told to reign in those expectations. It seems that was the best cause of action.

The video is just under three minutes in length, and the first minute or so was spent reading out angry tweets from fans.

While the video is humorous on some level, surely that minute could have been spent letting us know how development of Dying Light 2 is actually going?

The video was more about the challenges that the current global pandemic brings, explaining that the developers want to take their time with Dying Light 2 to ensure that it’s the best game possible, which is all good to me.

This is a huge and complex project and we needed time to make sure it would live up to our vision. All of us here are putting our hearts into delivering a game you will keep playing for months,” said Techland.

Before the update video came to an end, we got told that more information will be revealed “very soon”.

We got to see a small snippet of gameplay and, at the very end of the video, we saw a release window of 2021. In case you missed it, check it out below.

Considering the many problems the game has faced, 2021 might be an ambitious window.

Hopefully, we’ll learn more about the development status of Dying Light 2 around the E3 season. In the meantime, no more mean tweets to the developers, okay?
