Teen Jailed For Paying Just $10 For A PS4 He Disguised As Fruit

A teenager in France has been jailed for four months after illegally purchasing PlayStation 4 consoles, says Europe1 [via Unilad].

19-year-old Adel conducted and executed a “clever” plot to nab himself the €340 ($386 USD) console for just €9 ($10 USD) by disguising it as fruit in a local hypermarket (a combination of both a department store and a supermarket).

Despite a PS4 being somewhat different to fruit, Adel completed his scheme by weighing the console on the store’s fruit and vegetable weighing scales.

The scales allowed him to print a label with a price on it for the console’s equivalent weight in nutritious fruit, which Adel then scanned at a self-checkout machine.

Adel then walked out of the store with a brand-new PS4 with a heavy €330 “discount.” To onlookers and any CCTV cameras, it would appear as if Adel simply purchased a console at full-price.

Returning to the scene of the crime the next day, Adel was arrested while trying to pull the same trick. He later told Europe1 that he managed to sell the first console for €100. Which is surprising really because he could have sold it for a lot more.

Adel received a four month prison sentence for his stunt, so definitely don’t try this at home (or at the store, for that matter).

Maybe stick to looting and thievery in Red Dead Redemption 2.
