The Best co-op Multiplayer Games for Valentine’s Day Gamer Gifts
It Takes Two
Nothing says “Valentine’s bliss” like playing the critically acclaimed co-op game that won 2021’s Game of the Year at The Game Awards. It Takes Two is an action-adventure platformer with multiplayer-only twist. That means the only way to play is via local or online co-op – making victory when working together all the sweeter.
Playing as two soon-to-be-divorced parents, you and your player #2 are transformed into two pint-size dolls. Now, they need to find their way back home in a “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids”-esque adventure, whilst trying to repair the relationship between themselves and with their daughter.
To win, your teamwork will be put to the test as you commence a crazy journey built for two. It will be up to the both of you to master unique and collaborative ways to get to the next level, not knowing what challenges you’ll be pitted against next. Meanwhile, you’ll be treated to a light-yet-heart-warming narrative about what it means to get along.
Mario Kart 8: Deluxe
Being one of the best Nintendo Switch games to play right now, Mario Kart 8: Deluxe is also one of the most fun racing games out there for new and veteran gamers alike. Bundled with its large cast of lovable characters is a massive assortment of tracks, many of which are revamped versions from older titles you, your significant other, or friends have grown up playing.
A potent mix of nostalgia and the excitement of no two races ever being the same, blends perfectly with the chaos from its series-iconic power-ups. Playing together or online with other Valentine’s Day players across the world, Mario Kart 8: Deluxe is one of the best multiplayer games around.
Mario Kart 8: Deluxe is available to buy at the GameByte Shop for £45.52.
Practice for after buying your first home together, or just working out your puzzle solving skills? You decide.
In Moving Out, you and your co-op partner play as independent contractors tasked with moving house objects into your moving van, whilst having to overcome the exaggerated physics in place and various obstacles. Some objects can just be handled by one person, but may be fragile and easy to break. Others will be heavy and require the work of two people. Nothing teaches teamwork better than having to coordinate moving a sofa whilst avoiding rakes, fires, and ghosts.
Based on how quickly all items are packed into the truck, you’ll be given a score scaled as bronze, silver, or gold, encouraging you to even better each time. Moving Out’s wacky physics mechanics may take a slight getting used to. Nevertheless, once you and your Valentine find your groove, a good time is guaranteed.
Moving Out is available to buy now at the GameByte Shop for £15.95 on Xbox One.

Overcooked! All You Can Eat
Cooking a Valentine’s Day meal seems redundant when you realise video games (or takeout deliveries) can sort it it all for you.
Blending both games together with all DLC; Overcooked! and Overcooked! 2; All You Can Eat is the ultimate bundle of co-operative cooking chaos. Bringing together hundreds of levels, each comes with its own mixture of zany challenges – all with the main goal to coordinate cooking and sending out as many meals as possible within the given time limit.
Overcooked can be played in single-player, sure. However, to truly end each level with as high a star rating as possible, you really need to run like a well-oiled machine. Such a feat only be truly achieved when working together with your player #2. Plus, with upgraded 4K visuals, both the local co-op and online multiplayer are truly a feast for the eyes.
