The Callisto Protocol gets a gruesome new gameplay reveal during last night’s Gamescom Opening Night Live. Happy days!
The Callisto Protocol is being developed by the newly formed Striking Distance Studios. Leading the project is CEO Glen Schofield, a co-creator of the iconic sci-fi horror series, Dead Space as well as the co-founder of the now dismantled Visceral Games.
Callisto Protocol doesn’t shy from its inspiration
It’s pretty obvious we know, but this sci-fi space horror doesn’t shy away from the fact that it’s heavily inspired by Dead Space. In fact, it seems to proudly wear its inspiration on its sleeve.
In the new three-minute gameplay trailer, we’re introduced to a deadly new enemy type, simply known as “mutations”. Moreover, this is an enemy that if not disposed of quickly enough, will regenerate and make you its next victim.
We’re loving the brutality of The Callisto Protocol
The gameplay trailer also ends quite gruesomely, which appears to be a common trend in recent reveals. However, we’re not complaining and we think you’re going to love it to bits.
Dead Space is getting a remake!
If one sci-fi space horror bringing bucket loads of gory, bloody goodness isn’t enough for you, then we also have the Dead Space remake to look forward to.
When is The Callisto Protocol release date?
Which sci-fi horror are you looking forward to most of all? Perhaps you’re just happy that we’re in a generation where The Callisto Protocol, as well as the Dead Space remake, co-exists. What a time it is to be a survival horror fan.
