The Game Awards Returns With Live, In-Person Show This December

Finally, since the turn of the global COVID-19 pandemic, The Game Awards returns with a live, in-person show this December.

Last year’s presentation was a virtual showcase. Sure, it was still nice to see the event soldiering on, and it was great to get some new video game announcements. However, it’s just not the same as having a live audience in attendance. Even when watching from the comfort of my own home.

Thankfully, as announced by The Game Awards host Geoff Keighley, the show will return in-person on December 9th this year. Happy days! The Game Awards will take place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

However, seeing as the show has just been announced, we do not know what will be showcased at the event. But this is exciting news, nonetheless.

What about COVID-19 precautions?

In a press release provided to TheGamer, rules and regulations regarding the pandemic were vague. That said, the event will be invite-only, so expect a reduced attendance. Furthermore, it is stated that “additional details on health and safety protocols” will be announced in the coming weeks.

What would you like to see at the show?

Personally, I would love to see Microsoft step up its game with some proper gameplay reveals. Microsoft has been doing an excellent job acquiring first-party studios, but I would love to see some gameplay reveals for the Xbox series. However, I am sure we will get plenty of “world premiere” announcements.
