The Last of Us 2 Has Been ‘Delayed Until 2020’

The Last of Us Part 2 has been delayed until 2020, claims industry insider and Kotaku top dog, Jason Schreier.

Sharing his knowledge on Twitter, Schreier writes: “Looks like Death Stranding is about to get announced for a November release.

“The Last of Us 2 was also planned for fall 2019 but I actually just heard it got bumped to early 2020, possibly February? Either way, wild final year for PS4.”

It’s devastating news for fans of the Naughty Dog game, which was first announced way back in 2016.

Earlier this week rumours began to circulate that The Last of Us Part 2 would be getting a release date soon, and it was expected to be coming out this year.

There’s been rumours swirling about the game’s release for years now, with people questioning whether or not the game will be the swan-song of the PlayStation 4 or perhaps a launch title for the PlayStation 5, but thing is, we just don’t know until we know.

GameReactor, reported on the release date being in 2019, saying [translated]: “According to Gamereactor comments sources close to the company, Sony is preparing to set the release date of Last of Us 2 this week.

“In fact, they say, it will do so with a new trailer of the raw survival adventure of Joel and Ellie , marking the exact day they will return to PS4, most likely, this fall.”

Of course, unnamed sources are always to be taken with a pinch of scepticism, but I was seriously hoping for a 2019 release date for the game.

Until Sony or Naughty Dog confirms the push-back of TLOU2, I’ll keep on hoping, although it looks like the news might be true.

On the bright side, we know Naughty Dog and Sony won’t be serving us up any unfinished games, which is maybe the only positive to the suggestion of a 2020 release date.
