It’s been confirmed that The Last of Us Part 2 will feature both sexual content and nudity, making it the very first Naughty Dog game to do so.
The news comes from the recently-revealed official ESRB rating for the game over on the PlayStation website. However, it’s almost definitely not going to be the fun and games you’re hoping for.
One of the most prevalent – and unconfirmed – theories about what will happen in the second part of Ellie’s adventures comes from what motivates her to go on her revenge spree. Thanks to the many trailers focused on her relationship with new character, Dina, many have speculated that Dina is the one who sparks Ellie’s need for revenge.
The two most-believed theories at this point are that Dina will either be murdered, or sexually assaulted in some form, causing Ellie to spiral into her violent killing spree.
Putting this theory together with the now-confirmed “nudity and sexual content” doesn’t spell good news for our favourite PlayStation characters, but as always, take the theory with a pinch of salt.
The Last of Us Part 2’s official description reads as follows: “Five years after their dangerous journey across the post-pandemic United States, Ellie and Joel have settled down in Jackson, Wyoming. Living amongst a thriving community of survivors has allowed them peace and stability, despite the constant threat of the infected and other, more desperate survivors.
“When a violent event disrupts that peace, Ellie embarks on a relentless journey to carry out justice and find closure. As she hunts those responsible one by one, she is confronted with the devastating physical and emotional repercussions of her actions.”
The Last of Us Part 2 launches exclusively on PlayStation 4 on May 29 2020.
