The Original Tomb Raider Might Be Getting A Remake

The original Tomb Raider might be getting an Unreal Engine 5 remake, as fans speculate over some recent reveals.

Earlier this week, as part of Epic Games’ State of Unreal event, it was revealed that Crystal Dynamics is working on a new Tomb Raider game. Not much information was shared about the game, but now there’s speculation that the original Tomb Raider might be getting the remake treatment (thanks, GAMINGbible).

As shared on the GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit, user Stock_Presentation_ spotted some interesting developments. Stock_Presentation_ noticed that for one, the new logo revealed for the next Tomb Raider game bears quite a resemblance to the original game’s logo.

But more interestingly, Stock_Presentation_ pointed out how the header image in the official Tomb Raider’s Twitter account has changed. Now, the header image shows a piece of artwork that seems to reimagine artwork from the original Tomb Raider. This could just be nothing, but the change did occur after the reveal of the new game at the State of Unreal event. Of course, it is just speculation, so better to take it with a grain of salt.

The recent Tomb Raider games have been more of an origin story for Lara Croft, and the events of the first game have yet to take place. Though the events of the reboot games and the original games are meant to be separate timelines. It could be that this supposed remake is more of a reimagining than a true remake. For now, we’ll just have to wait and see.

It’s also worth noting that Tomb Raider already had a remake back in 2007, with Tomb Raider Anniversary. Would you want an original Tomb Raider remake? Let us know on Twitter!
